Charmed : Rose McGowan Talks about Tragic Childhood Spent in a Cult!

But as you dig deeper, you realize that beneath the facade of perfection, lies a vulnerable young woman, who is still fighting a difficult battle, to get over her painful past.

The actress, in a recent shocking revelation, talked about how she spent the first nine years of her life, in a religious cult, where she was expected to follow all the beliefs that were imposed upon her.

She revealed that it was an extremely traumatic experience that they had to live without television or any other exposure to the outside world.

It was not long before she realized that whatever was happening was not right, and that there had to be a way to escape it all. She was shocked to witness the culture that the members of the cult followed, in which women were treated as sexual slaves, whose only purpose was to satisfy the needs of the men in the cult.

It was when the sexual practices extended to relationships between children and adults that Rose and her parents planned an escape, and ran away in the middle of the night. Her parents soon divorced, and she then lived with her mother and stepfather.

At the time, she found it difficult to adjust into the culture of a regular American life, and ran away from her home, to be taken in by drag queens. She finally returned to live with her father, after which she took up Christianity and began to live a normal life.
